It seems like McLaren Automotive is in hurry to come up with the successor of its super popular P1 hypercar. We’ve heard some rumors that the new model is already ready to debut, well that’s fantastic, we’ll get to see it messing up the market for the first place with AMG Project One and Aston Martin Valkyrie.
And it’s going to be banging, this P15, boasting an 800 horsepower non-hybrid 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8. That is less than what the P1 offered, but the McLaren P15 will be faster seeing it’s designed to be a stripped-out but still road-legal track toy with a weight of just 1,300 kg. So it’s fair to say the P15 won’t be any good around Casino Square or Knightsbridge, but it’ll kill at Silverstone or Spa. McLaren P15 will make use of McLaren’s latest Monocage II one-piece carbonfibre tub complete with roof structure and get a race-inspired two-seater interior and no P1-style electrical powertrain. That is the key to its light weight and therefore superb power-to-weight ratio. The hypercar will also benefit from Active aerodynamics with self-adjusting spoilers.
Just about the only worry with McLaren P15 is that it is said to be designed more with function in mind than good looks, and the fact that it’ll £840,000 (limited to 500 units).
